From its inception, City Club has had fun baked into its Vision Statement and its Charter. In fact, the central piece of art defining our community is a large diptych painting by Frank Sampson called “Celebration.”

I’ll be the first to admit that in the past we have focused more of our attention on foundational tasks like planning, building, and intellectual pursuits, over simply having fun. But, I am pleased to say, we are now more focused on celebrating and having fun by taking the following actions:

— The recent acoustic salon music series led by member Glenda Luck has served as an  excellent cultural gathering opportunity. This is the closest we have come to our ideal of a modern day18th-century French music salon.

— Facing tremendous financial pressure and operational anxiety, we finally launched our new food program last week. Our team’s execution was nearly flawless and the member reception has been overwhelming. This program has rolled out almost seamlessly thanks to Dustin, Chef Tyler Crawford, and the entire Hospitality and Concierge teams. I must say that the buffet experience was like walking down memory lane.

— The pandemic we are experiencing may be inflicting far more emotional than physical damage. To remedy the consequent lack of deep human connection, we are pleased to offer the following plan to support our members, whether to celebrate their personal causes or to simply have fun:

Members now have the opportunity to book private events for $100/person which includes a delicious family-style dinner with great wine. These events are open to groups of between twelve and fifty participants. The price includes the facility fee, parking, food, wine, and service. Members would then have the option to supplement the base fare with food upgrades, hard liquor, and music tailored to the event, whether it be in celebration of a birthday or an anniversary, a business closing, or perhaps to host the equivalent of a Jeffersonian Dinner on some meaningful topic.

The overall point is that the club’s ability to offer more social and dining programs is a function of our membership growth. As such, please help us by introducing your friends and colleagues to the club as potential members, and plan your next celebration at City Club.
