A Progress Report

In July 1978, we purchased the dilapidated and abandoned Highland School building and fully renovated it into luxury offices within a year. Twenty-five years into that experiment, fully appreciating the disruptive role of technology in the workplace, we took on the arduous task of converting Highland from a luxury office to a private social and business club.

Realizing the glue that keeps a community together is the availability of abundant healthy and delicious food at affordable prices, our next focus was the construction of a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen. While all commercial kitchens are hard and expensive to build, building one in the basement of a historic landmark with 18” thick walls and no access to city sewer was a daunting challenge.

Believing that when there is a will, there is a way, we are pleased to report that twenty years after the start of this process, we finally have a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen that will not only support our growing membership but will also lead the way in the coming food revolution, which we believe will be as disruptive as the current work revolution.

I want to express my gratitude for your continued moral and financial support of our community during these difficult times, including the pandemic, and for the disruptions you endured during these upgrades.

On a different front, we are pleased to announce that Yovel Peretz, pictured above, has joined our management team as Operations Manager. Aged 25, Yovel has registered more miles than years, as evidenced by the fact that he has secured a degree in business, recently completed his four-year service in the Israeli army, and has proven himself to be a natural leader. Please get to know Yovel and help welcome him into our community. You will enjoy learning what led Yovel directly from Israel to City Club, and why we believe he is qualified for this important position.

Finally, effective August 22, after seven years of dedicated service, Chef Tyler Crawford and his lovely wife Heather will return to Wyoming to work in his family’s business. Please join us in making Tyler’s last month special, and showing him gratitude for his many years of dedicated service. The EVG Hospitality Group, which we hired as consultants during the kitchen design and remodel, is now engaged to lead the search for a new chef. Please keep us in mind should you come across any prospects.

We look forward to the next chapter of City Club’s growth.
