Joseph N. de Raismes, III
Joseph N. de Raismes, III, was City Attorney for the City of Boulder from 1979-2003. During this time, he rewrote the entire City code and drafted the Open Space sections of the Boulder City Charter. He handled a vast array of litigation, taking three cases to the Supreme Court. He served as interim City Manager during 1990-1991.
He received his B.A., magna cum laude from Yale College in 1967 and his J.D. from the Harvard Law School in 1970. He received the Order of the Coif (1991) from the University of Colorado law faculty and served as Adjunct Professor of Law at the University, as well as President and Trustee of the International Municipal Lawyers Association, the national organization of city and county attorneys. He currently serves as General Counsel of Mental Health America, a national mental health and substance use disorder advocacy organization based in Alexandria, VA. He is admitted to practice law in Colorado and Virginia.

A Place to Sit is located at 2355 Canyon Blvd, Suite 202, in Boulder. Entrance to the presentation is by voluntary donation. To find the building, driving either east or west on Canyon, turn north on to 23rd St. There is ample parking in the lot for the building complex, immediately to the right (east) from 23rd St. 2355 is the easterly building of the two in the complex. Suite 202 is located up 14 stairs – some outside the building, some inside. There is no elevator. There will be an assistant posted at the doorway to the outside doorway, watching out for those who need a little help climbing the stairs.
