Matthew Hubbard
Matt believes that lasting impact begins with meeting real needs. He began his career as an intelligence officer with the Central Intelligence Agency after law school. He later spent over a decade in the tech sector, leading product development at startups across consumer and enterprise software, including platforms for contact management and education technology. Today, he serves as Principal Product Manager at Watch Duty, a nonprofit disaster intelligence platform delivering real-time alerts for wildfires and other natural disasters. He designs mission-critical tools for both the public and first responders, with a focus on speed, clarity, and mobile-first usability in high-pressure environments.
His work reflects a belief that progress emerges from attending to real needs, with a focus on those who are doing the work and building from the bottom-up. He sees disaster response as a clarifying force that breaks down ideological barriers and draws people toward shared responsibility and common good. His aim is to carry that clarity forward—not only in emergencies, but in how communities plan, communicate, and take care of their own.
Matt has recently relocated to Boulder to support his sister and take an active role as “uncle-plus”. He volunteers with Boulder’s Emergency Operations Center and explores how emergency planning, civic life, and local systems shape community resilience. His interests span technology events, public policy, and hands-on service that allow him to contribute meaningfully, locally, and well.
