Douglas Gardner

Douglas Gardner grew up in Wellesley Ma. and had the urge to travel from an early age. After graduating from Denison University with a dual degree in Economics and English, he scratched that travel itch by joining the Peace Corps for service in Burkina Faso.

A subsequent masters degree in business, leading to a job in the three-piece suit on Wall Street with the Chase Manhattan Bank did not cut it. Instead, he found his real calling working for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for over 30 years, with assignments around the globe in places like Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Mongolia, Ukraine, as well as New York).

Addison Smalley

One one of the newest members of the Highland | City Club team, Addison Smalley will be assisting at the concierge desk, helping with Lunch and Happy Hours, and a myriad of other things to keep the cogs turning.

He grew up in Golden, Colorado and has since made Boulder his new home. You may often find him riding his Trials Bicycle on the CU campus, Dirt Biking in the Colorado Mountains, or even Downhill Skateboarding on the local steep hills.

Parker Johnson

Parker Johnson was born to sing. A boy soprano by age 7, Parker joined his first rock band at age 15, and took a gap year at age 18 to travel to 11 European countries and 22 US states to sing with Up With People. Attending college at UNC-Chapel Hill, Parker’s rock band travelled up and down the east coast, playing the fraternity/sorority circuit from the University of Florida to Ohio State.

Jia Gottlieb

Jia Gottlieb is a physician, author and an early City Club member who enjoys a deep conversation on just about any topic. His mixed heritage of an Austrian father and Chinese mother imbued him with a diverse range of interests.

After completing a BA in physics from the University of Colorado, an MD from Northwestern University, and a Family Medicine residency at the top-ranked Community Hospital of Sonoma County, Jia traveled to Japan and China for intensive training in martial arts and acupuncture.

Michael Kosacoff

Yesterday Michael Kosacoff who grew to be a good friend and a City Club Honorary Member passed to the other side of the veil.

Michael was a brilliant guy on many fronts. A psychotherapist by profession, a Sufi and an ordained Rabbi, Michael liked to read, learn, play the piano, and argue. No matter how many points of view we already had at the table, we always knew we could count on Michael to get yet another one.

Roger Linfield

Roger Linfield was born in the Boston area and moved west in stages, eventually reaching Southern California. He attended graduate school in astronomy at Caltech and worked for 18 years at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Being at JPL made it possible to use telescopes in space, which opened up a new world for Roger.

Catherine Walker

Catherine Walker was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and a Graduate Degree in Wine Studies from the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone. Upon graduation from the CIA, she passed levels one and two of The Court of Master Sommeliers Examinations. In addition to six years in the Wine and Beverage Industry as a Sommelier, Manager and Sales Professional, she spent the last two years working as a Stylist and Sales Professional for a concept space that combines contemporary fashion with fine art. Amongst other things, Scott is a Professor of Law (University of Colorado Law School, 2000-2018), teaching contract law, negotiation, counseling family enterprises, the law of non-profits, and legal ethics. Scott is an ordained Zen priest, and a backcountry hiker and skier who uses his substantial knowledge and influence to fight global warming.
